The grade 7s had their first canoeing lesson at the Lawson today! The students had a lot of fun playing games in the pool and tipping their canoes.

Yearbooks:
I have received the 2010-2011 Yearbooks. The grade 7s got back late from canoeing at the end of the day so we didn't have a chance to pass them out. Students will get them at the end of the day tomorrow.

Welcome BBQ and Open House:

The Welcome BBQ and Open House will be September 15^th, 2011. The BBQ will be from 5:00-5:45 pm and the Open House will start around 5:45 pm in the gym and at 6:00 pm in the classrooms. I hope to see you all there!

Band has started!
Grade 6 and 7 have Full band on Day 2, and 6/7 Sectionals are on Day 3.

There is no homework assigned by Mme Sweeney today, although other teachers may have assigned work.

Grade 7 Canoeing Program:

The grade 7s have their pool lesson tomorrow (Tuesday)! We will be leaving the school at 1:15 and returning at 3:00. All students must bring their bathing suit and a towel to participate! If students miss the pool lesson they will not be allowed on the lake.
While we are away the grade 6s will have Math with Mme Kirstein and will work on homework with Mlle Reed after recess.

Today was a productive day in Room 25. Students completed the first fitness test of the year. We also started our Art Appreciation unit on Mondrian. We met with our Reading Buddies in Mme Stirling's grade 2 class. We also brainstormed ideas for our Mayor for a Day essays. Check out the website section of the blog to see related sites!

Students earned choice time this week by following our class procedures and rules! They will have a chance every week to earn choice time on Friday.

Books:
Until we are able to check out books from the school's library, students are asked to bring a book to school to read during DEAR (Drop Everything and Read).

Indoor shoes & clothing:
Students, please bring your indoor running shoes as well as a change of clothes for gym. Students cannot participate in Phys. Ed without proper footwear.
